Born
and brought up in Holland, Paulette Demello she was exposed to music
at a young age, learning to play the recorder at school, as music
classes are part of the curriculum in Dutch Schools.
At the age of 8 she started on the piano. When she joined the college,
she concentrated on her studies in Chemistry, and music faded to the
background, till she felt the need to expose her children to this
wonderful art form, after coming to India at the end of 1977.
She joined the Music school as a Recorder teacher in 1988. In 1990
she had her first lessons on the flute, under Dr. Koelreutler, the
German conductor and co-founder and participant of the first East
West Music and Dance Encounter.
She continued to raise her level upto a high standard more or less
on her own, and with the help of visiting musicians. She is now able
to teach the flute as well and has performed in a number of Faculty
Concerts on the recorder and as a flautist.
She is a member of the Bangalore School of Music Orchestra. Recently
she played in the orchestra which has performed in the musical success
